About

Louis Joel Arts & Community community-owned and operated not-for-profit organisation operating a neighbourhood house/community centre, and Louis Joel Gallery on the site of the historically significant Altona Hospital, located in the heart of the bayside suburb of Altona, Victoria. We provide a diverse range of community programs, accessible to all, with an emphasis on creativity and arts, to connect the community and to nurture a sense of community wellbeing.
 
We support and empower the makers, creators, artists, historians, designers, volunteers, producers and performers of Hobsons Bay and Melbourne’s west by offering opportunities to the community to simply enjoy the experiences and benefits that engaging with the arts can deliver.

The Annual General Meeting for Hobsons Bay Community Advancement Co-operative (trading as Louis Joel Arts & Community) will be held on Friday, 22 November from 6pm. All current members have been notified.

Our volunteer board of management champions the community, direction and sustainability of Louis Joel Arts & Community. Utilising their diverse skillsets and professional experience, the contribution to our local community as individuals and a collective is rewarding and a way they give back.

Our Team

We are here to enable community connections and creativity at arguably the best location in Melbourne’s west. Apart from our manager, all team members work part-time and combined have 150 years of experience in the arts and community sector, and yet we all look so young!
